Valley Seeds ready for new season

Valley Seeds, a premier seed house, says it is ready for the next agriculture season  and has been contracted  to supply the government with seeds under government programmes.

All seeds earmarked for the Presidential Input Programme (PIP) have been sourced, 60% already delivered and the remainder expected to be in well before the beginning of the planting season.

The move  will  ensure that farmers have access to high-quality planting.

Valley Seeds Managing Director Aluis Chareka reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing the best seeds for the nation.

“We are fully prepared to meet the demands of our farmers and contribute to the agricultural advancement of our country. We have an excellent relationship with our stakeholders, the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water And Rural Development and the Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion who continue to support our operations,” Chareka said.

“In addition to our readiness for the season, we are expanding our infrastructure. A new storage shed is currently under construction at our Juru Manufacturing Plant to enhance our storage capabilities.”

Valley Seeds has also recently commissioned a state-of-the-art traditional grains processing plant in Ruwa. Furthermore, they are actively working to strengthen the seed value chain through the development of an oil and stock feed manufacturing plant in Ruwa.

Commercial director Tich Maponga also emphasized the company’s preparedness to meet local market demands.

“This seed is specifically produced for the local market. We are also focusing on increasing the production of vegetable seeds to support the country’s horticultural trajectory,” Maponga stated.

Valley Seeds Zimbabwe supplies maize, sorghum, sugar bean, soya bean, sunflower seeds as well as traditional grains that includes sorghum, groundnuts, millet, and cowpeas. In addition to the vegetables mentioned above, they also supply herbicides, knapsacks and fall army worn chemicals.
