War vets welcome Mutsvangwa offloading

A faction claiming the legitimacy of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) has said the removal of Hon Chris Mutsvangwa as Minister of Veterans of Liberation Struggle Affairs by President Mnangagwa is above board and described the move as a welcome development.
“The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) would like to express its position regarding the recent removal of Hon C. Mutsvangwa from the Cabinet position of Minister of Veterans of Liberation Struggle Affairs by His Excellency, President E. D. Mnangagwa. In His Excellency’s wisdom, ZNLWVA welcomes this decision from the appointing authority.
“The Association humbly prays that the next appointee to this crucial ministerial position will be an individual who wholeheartedly subscribes to the country’s Constitution and the relevant statutes that recognize the sacrosanct role of the war veteran community and the nation at large in accomplishing the goals outlined in the National Development Strategy (NDS1),” said Andreas Ethan Mathibela, the Chairman of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA).
He said ZNLWVA remains cognizant of the pressing need for social safety nets and the creation of a social and economic environment that benefits all members of society. The war veteran community, having made significant sacrifices for the liberation struggle and the advancement of Zimbabwe, stands united in its commitment to national development.
The Association strongly believes that the appointment of a Minister of Veterans of Liberation Struggle Affairs who understands the historical significance of war veterans and their contributions will greatly contribute to the successful implementation of the National Development Strategy and the overall progress of the nation.
“ZNLWVA reaffirms its dedication to working hand in hand with the government to foster social and economic development and to ensure the welfare of war veterans and their families. We remain steadfast in our commitment to national unity, peace, and stability.
“We call upon all members of our association, as well as the general public, to remain vigilant and supportive of the government’s efforts in realizing the objectives outlined in the National Development Strategy. Together, we can build a prosperous and inclusive Zimbabwe that honors the sacrifices of our war veterans,” Mathibela added.
